Day 01: Sunday 05 July, 2009

Arrive Ulaanbaatar


Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city situated on the banks of the Tuul River, surrounded by majestic mountains. The combination of these pine-clad mountains, wide boulevards, vast public squares and parks emits a spacious feeling. Meeting, assistance and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Tonight, attend a Welcome Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Ulaanbaatar/Sergelen Sun - Folklore Chinggis Khan Cavalry Show


After breakfast drive through the countryside to Hondii Valley. Attend a Folklore and a Chinngis Khan Cavalry Shows. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 03: Tuesday 07 July, 2009

Mongol Els Sand Dunes


After breakfast, drive to the Mongol Els Sand Dunes. En route, enjoy a picnic lunch as you drink in the spectacular scenery. Visit a local family breeding horses-Ger. Experience first hand the nomadic lifestyle and witness the family’s daily activities. You may also tast the various dairy products made the traditional way including the national drink, fermented mare’s milk. Dinner and overnight at GER CAMP.

Day 04: Wednesday 08 July, 2009

Khara Khorum


Travel to Mongolia''s ancient capital, Kharakhorum, Chinggis Khaan'’s fabled city, founded in 1220 in the Orkhon Valley, at the crossroads of the Silk Road. It was from here that the Mongol Empire governed until Khubilai Khaan relocated to Beijing. Visit the symbolic ruins of Kharakhorum, Monumental Walls and the 108 stupas that surround the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, Erdene Zuu Monastery, built in 1586. In 1792, housing 62 temples and 10,000 lamas, Turtles carved from the stone marked the boundaries of the complex. Explore the Ancient Graves in the Orkhon River basin. Tonight, enjoy a Mongolian BBQ Dinner before retiring to your Ger camp.

Day 05: Thursday 09 July, 2009

Khara Khorum/Ulaanbaatar


After breakfast, full day drive to Ulaanbaatar including a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 06: Friday 10 July, 2009

Ulaanbaatar City Tour


After breakfast, embark on a city tour, includes the Gandantegchilen Monastery, present day Buddhist center housing the larggest standing Statue of the God of compassion. Next, visit the Natural History Museum housing the petrified Dinosaur skeletons, rare animals, wild camel, wild sheep, wild goat etc. After lunch at a local restaurant, proceed to the Friendship Monument on Zaisan Hill, where the panoramic view of Ulaanbaatar and its surrounding area is spectacular. Rest of the day is free for last minute shopping. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 07 & 08: Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 July, 2009

Naadam Festival


The Nadaam Festival or Eriyn Gurvan Nadaam, is the larggest festival, celebrated for three days. It highlights the greatest athletes in horse racing, archery and wrestling: Mongolia's popular sports. Women participate in the events except wrestling. Nadaam means game or competition. Contests take place on the first two days and merry-making at the end. This fiesta has been held for centuries as a form of a memorial celebration, annual sacrificial ritual, honoring various mountain Gods or celebrating a community endeavor. The festivities commence with a colorful parade of athletes, monks, soldiers marching in perfect uniformity, musicians and Mongolians dressed in Chinggis style warrior uniforms. Enjoy Mongolian and Chinggis Khaan Operas in the evenings. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 09: Monday 13 July, 2009

Depart Mongolia


After breakfast and a relaxing morning, transfer to the airport to board your flight departing for the States.
