DAY 1:

Depart tonight on your luxuriously appointed flight for Malaysia.

DAY 2:

EN ROUTE :

Relax and enjoy the famous in flight service and wide selection of movies and entertainment. Cross the International Date Line.

DAY 3:

ARRIVE KOTA KINABALU :

Arrive Kota Kinabalu, gateway and capital to the `land below the wind’ – Sabah. Earlier known as Jesselton, the original town was destroyed during the 2nd world war. Rest of the afternoon is at leisure. Spend your evening witnessing Cultural Show followed by Dinner : Feel the heartbeat of KK as you drive past some of the city's landmarks before putting your bargaining skills to the test at the Night Market. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner featuring an array of Malaysian cuisine. The evening’s entertainment is a lively presentation of traditional music and dance. The colorful attire of different ethnic groups and the rhythm and beat of local musical instruments will leave lasting memories of Borneo’s rich cultural diversity. D

DAY 4:

KOTA KINABALU- CITY TOUR :

On your City tour - Visit the Heritage Village & museum for a closer view of Sabah's ethnic diversity highlighted by the unique local architectural styles of homes in North Borneo and the colorful costume display. Then, proceed for a City drive by major landmarks such as the State & City Mosque, Tg. Aru Beach & the highest building, Tun Mustapha Tower. Enjoy some leisure time mingling with the local people at the Handicraft market. B

DAY 5:

FULL DAY EXCURSION- KIULU RIVER RAFTING :

The beautiful and scenic Kiulu River is an exciting introduction to river rafting. The journey winds through the undulating hills of Kiulu. The bamboo-fringed river provides for a pleasant respite from the tropical heat as the cool waters invigorate your senses. For the thrill seekers, try body rafting down the rapids before enjoying a relaxing swim along the calm stretches between rapids. BL

DAY 6:

BORNEO & LONGHOUSE :

Travel today to Kudat district to meet the Rungus people in their longhouses. Famous for their bead and basketry, witness their handicraft making. Stop enroute at Kota Belud to see the traditional swordmaking. Overnight at Bavangaazo Longhouse (built of natural materials and managed by the local villagers). Accommodation is basic twin sharing, communal bathrooms (no hot water), mattress with mosquito netting provided. Evening witness the cultural music and dance performance by the tribal people. BLD

DAY 7:

KUDAT/ KINABALU PARK :

Visit Kg. Sumangkap to observe how local gongs are being made. Gongs are important heirlooms and commonly used in festivities. Also visit Mengkabong Water village to view how the Sea-Bajau live. Spend time at the beach before traveling to Kinabalu Park. Overnight at hotel. BLD

DAY 8:

MT KINABALU & PORING RAINFOREST – KOTA KINABALU :

Visit Kinabalu Park, a World Heritage Site nominated by UNESCO. The Kinabalu Park covers an area of 754 sq km and is made up of Mount Kinabalu, Mount Tambayukon and the foothills. The mountains have a fascinating geological history, taking 'just' a million years to form. The mighty Mount Kinabalu is actually a granite massif that was later thrust upwards through the crust of the surface. Mt. Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Malaysia towering majestically over the city. Enjoy the cool air as you trek around the foothills to learn about the different unique plants of Borneo such as the carnivorous Nepenthes, rhododendrons & orchid. From the montane oak-chestnut forest proceed to the lowland dipterocarp forest at Poring. Cross a Canopy walkway (built across the rainforest canopy 100 feet above ground level) to view epiphytes growing on the tree tops. Take a dip at the Hot Springs where the sulphuric content of the natural springs are said to have therapeutic value. Travel to Kinabalu in the evening. Overnight at hotel. BL

KOTA KINABALU :

SANDAKAN & ABAI :

Fly to Sandakan, located on an inlet of the Sulu Sea, near the mouth of Kinabatangan River a heavily indented east coast. The capital of British North Borneo (now Sabah) until 1947, it is the commercial heart of the state. Visit Sepilok Centre for an opportunity to view the Wildmen of Borneo, the Orangutan. Known scientifically as Pongo Pymaeus, this ape shares up to 96.4% of the human genetic makeup and is gentle, shy and curious by nature. The Orang-Utan is one of the most endangered of Malaysian wildlife species. Found only in Borneo and Sumatra, the Orang-Utans’ survival is constantly threatened by forest fires, felling of trees, poaching and illegal hunting. The Sepilok Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre was set up as a means of housing injured or orphaned Orang-Utans, caring for them and nursing them back to health before they can be released into the forest. Watch the orangutans emerge from the forest to be fed by the rangers. Next cruise for one hour to the lower Kinabatangan river sanctuary, starting with waters of Sulu sea and through magnificent scenery of the Mangrove forest. In the evening, search for Proboscis Monkey & other wildlife along the Kinabatangan River or take nature walk. After dinner, a night cruise leads you to witness the nature of fire flies similar to a Christmas tree. ABAI JUNGLE LODGE. BLD

DAY 11:

ABAI / SUKAU :

Wakeup by the calls of nature and take a river trip to observe wildlife and visit the unique Pitas Lake. Later cruise to Sukau and check in at KINABATANGAN RIVERSIDE LODGE. Ten species of monkeys and apes are found in 25,000 hectares of the Kinabatangan Wetlands Sanctuary, rated the highest concentration of primates in the whole of Borneo. The area has a plethora of animals like the Clouded Leopard, Asian Elephant, Crocodiles, Civet Cats, Otters, all eight species of Hornbills found in Borneo, Egrets, magnificent Kingfishers, Storks, Hawks and the incredible Oriental Darter which dive into rivers and lakes to pursue fish! Cruise in search of wildlife.

The Proboscis monkeys are fun to watch because they are very active. They frolic around like skilled aerial acrobats, leaping through tree gaps and breaking through masses of leaves. This is the most amazing and bizarre three footer, pot-bellied male Proboscis Monkey found nowhere else in the world except Borneo. BLD

DAY 12:

SUKAU-SANDAKAN BY BOAT/TEMPLE VISIT/KUALA LUMPUR :

After Breakfast, return to Sandakan. Subject to flight schedule enjoy some leisure time in Sandakan before proceeding to Push Ji Shih - Sabah's biggest and most expensive Chinese Buddhist Temple (300m above sea level) for a panoramic view of Sandakan. Fly to Kuala Lumpur this evening. CORUS HOTEL   BL

DAY 13:

KUALA LUMPUR :

Discover the exciting landmarks of the city. View the splendour of the King’s Palace and the impressive Parliament House. Share our glorious past at the National Museum. Visit the National Monument at Lake Garden. Proceed to the beautiful National Mosque. Finally drive pass the Railway Station to catch a glimpse of its unique architecture. Return back to hotel where rest of the afternoon is at leisure.

KUALA LUMPUR/ HOME :
